This project was done in partnership with the Dean’s Office and the Office of Informational Technology to work towards defining and designing app-based systems for deployment within Boise State University. Read more about the project here.
Boise State University's new initiative, Storyboard, encourages students to collect their educational experiences within an app. It will allow for responses to short prompts, save papers they have written, and document their progress.
Our team worked closely with the the application developer, Phil Merrell, to ensure that we could design an application that would be intuitive for students to use and engaging enough for them to continue using it.
Once our team met with the stakeholders, we started the project by creating user flows in place of wireframing. We modeled them after happy flows, in which it takes the user through successful paths to complete the intended flow without failures.
We reviewed the user flows with our stakeholders, and after receiving approval, we created mockups based on the user flows we created.
Since this was a Boise State University product, we worked within their brand standards to create a mobile application that was cohesive with the rest of the university.
The application has a supplemental physical journal, so we had to keep that in mind while designing the app.
Our class submitted designs of the physical journals for the students in the School of Public services, and my design was selected to be produced for academic year.
